SkillFoundry pitches itself as the open, vendor-neutral toolchain and registry for AI agent skills — a single CLI that lets you scaffold, validate, test, install, and publish skills across Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, OpenCode, and Cline. If you've spent any time building agent skills lately, you know each ecosystem has its own conventions, its own directory layout, its own metadata format. SkillFoundry is betting that this fragmentation is a problem worth solving.

What makes this interesting on day one:

• Vendor neutrality is a real gap. Skills authored for Claude Code today generally need hand-porting to work under Cursor or Cline. A shared toolchain — even an opinionated one — could meaningfully lower the cost of writing skills once and shipping them broadly.
• Registry + CLI together. Most nascent skill ecosystems ship one or the other. Bundling scaffolding, validation, testing, install, and publish into one workflow mirrors how npm, cargo, and pip succeeded: the registry is only as good as the tooling that feeds it.
• Testing is the sleeper feature. Skill authors today mostly ship and pray. If SkillFoundry's validate and test commands actually catch schema drift and behavioral regressions before publish, that alone justifies adoption.

Caveats worth flagging: the language field is Unknown, there's no README preview here, and the project has zero stars — so this is very much a first-look. The tags (agent, ai, claude-code, cli, cursor, developer-tools, skills) suggest the author has framed the positioning clearly, but execution quality is unverified.

Who benefits: skill authors targeting multiple agent runtimes, teams standardizing internal agent skill libraries, and anyone tired of copy-pasting SKILL.md files between projects. If you already maintain more than two skills, the scaffolding alone is probably worth cloning to try.
