fabscan is a card scanner project for Flesh and Blood, the popular trading card game from Legend Story Studios. While the repo is still in early days (no description-heavy README, no stars yet), the premise is immediately compelling to anyone who has tried to manage a physical TCG collection: point a camera at a card, get structured data back.

Card scanning is a deceptively hard problem. It typically involves:

What makes this interesting in the Flesh and Blood ecosystem specifically is that FaB doesn't have the same level of tooling maturity as Magic: The Gathering. MTG has Delver Lens, ManaBox, and TCGPlayer's scanner — FaB players largely log collections by hand or in spreadsheets. A working open-source scanner would be a genuinely useful contribution to that community.

Who would benefit:

Even if the current state is just a scaffold, the project is worth watching — and contributing to, if you play the game and write code. The intersection of "niche TCG" and "computer vision side project" is exactly the kind of weekend-hack territory where a single dedicated maintainer can build something the community actually uses.

Why check it out: An open-source card scanner for Flesh and Blood — filling a real tooling gap in a TCG community that's been underserved compared to Magic.
