Most of this week's crop is #shorts spam or clickbait "jammer" builds. This one is the exception: a focused tutorial on pairing the Reyax RYLR998 LoRa module with an ESP32 for genuinely long-range wireless links.
The pitch is practical. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the ESP32 top out at tens of meters indoors, and ESP-NOW extends that only modestly. LoRa in the 868/915 MHz ISM bands trades bandwidth for range — kilometers instead of rooms — which is the right tool for remote sensors, telemetry, and outdoor IoT nodes. What makes the RYLR998 interesting is that it hides all the SPI/register complexity of a bare SX1276 behind a simple AT command set over UART. No LoRaWAN stack, no radio driver library, just AT+SEND-style strings you can drive from any microcontroller.
Expect the video to cover wiring the module to an ESP32's hardware UART, the essential AT commands (address, network ID, frequency, spreading factor), and a basic point-to-point send/receive sketch. If you've been frustrated by dropped ESP-NOW packets past a fence line, this is the natural next step — and a useful primer before graduating to raw SX127x/SX126x radios or full LoRaWAN.
