A variable bench power supply is one of the most useful tools you can have on an electronics workbench, and building one yourself teaches you more about linear regulation than any datasheet reading ever will. This video walks through a full 0–30V, 1A adjustable supply built from discrete transistors — a TIP41 as the pass element and a 2N2222 in the feedback/driver role — rather than reaching for an LM317 or a switching module.
