Today's slate is unusually thin — most candidates are Shorts, showreels, festival promos, or vague "cinematic storytelling" pieces with no clear subject. Not Finished stands out as the only entry that promises a real story about a real person doing something specific.
The film follows Dylan Evans, a man who came through cancer and addiction and found ultra running as the thing that kept him moving forward. Ultra running — races that stretch well beyond the marathon distance, often 50 or 100 miles across mountain terrain — is a sport where the interesting question isn't physical but psychological: what makes someone keep going when the body has quit and there's still 40 miles to go? For someone who has already had to answer that question in the context of survival and recovery, the sport becomes something more than exercise. It becomes a way of practicing the same discipline that got him out of the darker places.
Short-form documentaries about endurance athletes tend to work best when the runner has a reason to run that goes deeper than PRs and podiums, and this one appears to have that. Worth a watch if you're interested in how people rebuild a life around a single hard practice.
Note: this pick is partly by default — the rest of today's candidates were Shorts or promotional reels.
