Most of today's candidates were factory-floor B-roll from machinery vendors — pretty to watch but light on actual teaching. This one is different: it tackles the K-factor, one of the most misunderstood concepts in sheet metal fabrication, and shows you how to determine it empirically rather than just pulling a number from a chart.
The K-factor is the ratio that locates the neutral axis inside a bent piece of sheet metal — the imaginary line that neither stretches nor compresses during the bend. Get it wrong and your flat patterns come out the wrong length, your flanges miss their dimensions, and assemblies don't fit. Material thickness, bend radius, and the forming method all shift where that neutral axis actually sits, which is why a "DIY" measurement on your own material and tooling beats a generic table value.
Expect to see a practical workflow: bend a test coupon to a known angle, measure the resulting leg lengths and bend allowance, then back-calculate K. Once you have a value calibrated to your press brake, your punch, and your sheet, your CAD unfolds become reliably accurate.
